Materials

We use FDM: material is melted and deposited layer by layer. The list below shows what we actually stock and print with, not everything theoretically possible.

Which material suits which use?

A quick comparison to help you choose. If you are unsure, tell us how you will use the item and we will advise you.

Two colours in one object

Two identical items printed in different colours
The same model in two colours. Our printer has two nozzles, so both colours can appear within the same layer.

Our main printer, Bambu Lab X2D, has two nozzles. This gives you three options:

Describe which parts should be which colour in the order notes. If anything is unclear, we will email you before starting.

Soluble supports

Models with overhangs usually need supports, and removing them leaves marks. The second nozzle can print supports in water-soluble PVA; these are washed away after printing, leaving clean surfaces. Select “Soluble supports — PVA” in the calculator for PLA or PETG. This adds 25% to the printing price plus the support material cost; models that need no supports incur no extra charge.

What we do not offer

We do not print with photopolymer resin. It is a different technology requiring a different machine. We prefer to say so rather than accept an order we cannot fulfil properly.

Part dimensions

The maximum size of a single part is 256 × 256 × 260 mm. We check this automatically, including possible rotation of the model. A larger object can usually be split into parts for assembly. Email us if you need this.

Choosing your material

For appearance and detail
PLA offers the most accurate printing and widest colour range. It cannot withstand the heat inside a car in summer.
For strength
PETG is tougher and resists moisture and impact. Suitable for parts under load.
For flexibility
TPU is rubber-like. Use it for seals, plugs, protective covers and anything that needs to give.
For heat and outdoor use
ABS and ASA are tough and heat-resistant; ASA does not fade in sunlight. Printed in our enclosed, heated chamber.
For the most demanding parts
Polycarbonate (PC) and nylon (PA), including carbon- and glass-fibre variants: PA6-CF, PAHT-CF and PPA-CF for rigidity, wear resistance and use at elevated temperatures.
