3D printing / how we calculate them

How much does custom 3D printing cost?

There is no single price “per gram” or “per centimetre”. The price comes from the model geometry and appears as soon as you upload it: final, including VAT, with no later surprises.

Prices / how we calculate them

Material is only one part of the cost. Machine time is the other.

What determines the price?

Material is calculated by mass: the grams used in walls, infill and supports. That is why a hollow model with 15% infill costs considerably less than the same model printed solid.

Machine time has two distinct components: how much material must pass through the nozzle and how many layers the model has. The latter is why a tall object costs more than a wide one of the same volume: layers are counted along its height.

File preparation is added, then VAT is applied to the total. The figure in your quote is the final production price including VAT for the full quantity.

What the production price excludes

Delivery is calculated for the selected Econt or Speedy collection point and shown separately. It is paid in advance with production; nothing is payable to the courier.

Creating a 3D model if you do not have a file. This is a separate bespoke service with its own quote.

How to pay less for the same object

Reduce infill if the object carries no load. For a decorative item, the difference between 15% and 50% is noticeable in the price but not in the hand.

Choose a thicker layer if surface finish is not critical. Thicker layers mean fewer layers and less machine time.

Orient the object lower if its shape allows it. Greater height multiplies the layer count.

Avoid overhangs. They need supports, which consume material that is then discarded.

Frequently asked questions

Why do two equally sized objects cost different amounts?

Volume is only one factor. A tall object has more layers than a wide one of the same volume, and every layer takes a fixed amount of time. Solid infill uses more material than hollow infill, while overhangs require disposable supports.

Can I get a price without uploading a file?

Not an exact one. The price is calculated from the geometry in the file. If you have no file, describe what you need and add photos; we will send a bespoke quote.

Does the price include VAT?

Yes. The displayed amount is the final production price including VAT. Delivery is added after you select a courier collection point.

Is there a discount for larger quantities?

Quantity is set in the quote and reflected in the calculation. For a larger batch, email us the quantity and model and we will give you a specific price.
