We sell 3D printing, but it does not suit every job. Here is when we say “no” or “not that way”.
Parts under heavy loads
Printed plastic is layered and weaker than a moulded part of the same shape. For a structural machine component, something carrying a person’s weight or a part subject to regular impacts, FDM does not replace metal or moulded components.
Sometimes an intermediate solution works: we print a prototype to check shape and fit, then the final part is manufactured elsewhere.
Heat
PLA softens at around 55–60 °C. PETG withstands more, but is also unsuitable near heaters or engines, or in a closed car in the sun.
For hot environments we offer more resistant materials: ABS, ASA, polycarbonate and high-temperature nylons. If those cannot withstand your temperature either, we will tell you before printing something that will deform.
Food contact
Printed surfaces have microscopic gaps between layers that trap residue and bacteria. We do not offer food-contact products: not because the material is necessarily harmful, but because the surface cannot be cleaned reliably.
Transparency and mirror finishes
FDM produces neither optical transparency nor a mirror-smooth finish. Post-processing can bring it closer, but requires manual work and is rarely worthwhile.
Work we do not accept
We do not make or copy weapons or their parts, keys or locking mechanisms, or products bearing other people’s trademarks. Price and workload do not change this policy.
What we do instead
Tell us what the part is for when uploading a file or submitting a request. If the job is unsuitable, we will say so directly. We would rather lose an order than have someone pay for something that will not work.
Explore materials and their limits or upload a model for a quote.
